New 936 Movement Spotlight on: Meme Taylor Davis
When it comes to leaving a legacy few people have embraced the responsibility as completely as MeMe Taylor Davis. For over 20 years this Conroe native has tirelessly worked as an educator and administrator and her efforts to motivate black and brown students has been phenomenal to say the least. As if serving as Dean of Workforce at Lone Star College wasn't enough, her love for her child and all children lead her to pen her first critically aclaimed children's book "Being Different is the Name of the Game" as well as a guided journal entitled "Things You Should Know Before I Go" & she is in the process of collaborating on a new children's book which promises to impact the community in many amazing ways. Q: Where are you from originally?
A: Born and raised in Conroe, Texas. I am a very proud native of Conroe and the community helped shaped the women I am today.
Q: Who influences or inspired you?
A: I would say my parents influenced many of my life decisions. My mother was instrumental in ensuring that I obtained a college degree, but my father instilled the importance of a hard day’s work.
Q: What do you have coming up?
A: At the end of the year, I am partnering with another Conroe native for my second children’s book. The collaboration is going to be amazing and will be book that will impact the community in more ways than one.
Q: How has the pandemic affected you or your business?
A: The pandemic fueled me to dream bigger and strive harder than ever before. The time working for home allowed me the creative space to write my children’s book.
Q: Any words of advise?
A: A goal without a plan, is just a dream.
