New 936 Movement Spotlight on: Tessa Allen

From talent shows to radio Tessa Allen has been a huge supporter of 936 area music, businesses & culture & her influence is ever expanding. She's built a platform for thousands of people to tell their story but for our first official New 936 Movement Spotlight we wanted to know more about the beautiful mind behind that beautiful smile & how she became the voice for so many who would have remained unheard.

 Q. How long have you been in business?

 A.  I have been in business for 9 years Radio Personality as of Aug 21st 2021, it started out with me going to Street 93.3 to promote a party to put money on my Big brothers books and I been apart of A-Team Media Broadcasting Co. every since that day. I Co Hosted for 6 Months and then was offered my own show. 

 Q. Where are you from  originally? 

  A. My Mommie is from Dobbin, Tx and my Dad is from Montgomery,Tx I just can't say one without the other.

  Q. How has the pandemic affected you or your business? 

   A. The pandemic has helped me in so may ways, I am usually one who hates pictures and videos of myself and was very very comfortable with only my voice being shared over the airwaves.  Once everything was shut down I started a podcast #ItsPersonal then I wanted to connect with my fans more so I dropped that fear of being recorded and created an Instagram account for Spotlight Radio Show and started Shows & Interviews on Instagram Live, which helped me reach more people that I've always wanted to interview in person versus them calling in. Two years in an I'm truly wanting to make it the thing now!!

    Q. What has been your biggest obstacle? 

    A. Wow my biggest obstacle has been knowing I can't get some people where they want to go.

    Q. How do you balance your art/business with your family life? 

    A. Early on I would sneak from my main job to make it to radio station in time, miss family functions etc, now after 9 years it's just my everyday routine to balance both, it's more so like my best friend!! I have a set day to work on my emails, listen to music from various artists update pages and websites. Also I put all my equipment away on my days off to keep things separate.  My family says they feel like they are being interviewed when I'm around lol so some things just don't stop.

    Q. Who influenced or inspired you? 

 

    A. That's easy lol, Mz Fiya, after co hosting for six months the original host went ghost on me and it wasn't until my 8 year anniversary he reached out and apologized to us both. But at that time Fiya asked me would I like to host my own show I was scared as all get out she said I spotlighted people and came up with the name Spotlight radio show for me and she's been my mentor,my sister,my friend, my boss and has shown and taught me so much about the broadcasting world.

   Q. What sets your business apart from others?  

   A. Now that would be a good question to ask previous guest that I have had on my show I would love to know their opinions. I most definitely try to keep a good relationship with all, and just be myself something no one else can be.

   Q. What do you have coming up?

   A. I am planning #SLRS Anniversary Party February 2022.

  A. Love life and everything in it.
