New 936 Movement Spotlight on: Lil' Say
The 936 is a pretty big area & few artists have made as heavy a footprint as Lil' Say. From Conroe to Navasota to Montgomery Say has connected with fans artists & producers & represented the culture both in the area & beyond. Always showing homage to his parents who did not live to see his success, Lil' Say has focused his energy on becoming one of the most dynamic artists out there & we caught up with him to see just how Stephanie's son became a hip-hop champ.
Q. Who influenced or inspired you?
A. My pops Champ, He loved & always listened to music, it made me fall in love with music even more, I had close siblings that were also good with the music that I grew up rapping with in Stonehamville,Tx not to far from Navasota or Conroe,Tx!
Q. How long have you been in
A. Ive been performing since I was 15yrs old., the business side came with the music, the deeper you get with your music you must learn where the money needs to go & how to spend it and see a major outcome.
Q. What do you have coming up?
A. I have a opening show in houston,tx Nov.13th, The Stephanie's Son 3rd Annual December 23rd Were Me & My Team Gives Back To The Community 5-Locations (College Station, Bryan, Navasota, Conroe, Hearne,Tx), Joint (Ep) with upcoming artists:"M.E.M StackBoy, Swishgod Uspa, P4L Jones" which are also dropping solo projects, & Topping It Off With My Album Next Year, Tours, Intetvied, Continuing the podcast & much more to come!
Q. Any words of advice?
A. Always Take Life 1 Day At A Time, Know Everything may not go your way, & learn to make a way out of no way, if you do music stay passionate, consistent and drop music with meaning, love your craft!
Q. How do you balance your art/business with your family life?
A. Dealing with real life and music it comes with balance, being a father, artist, business man, promoter, family man, having to schedule yourself and make sure everything is done in a timely manner on all ends nothing late or pass due!
